Travel Information

 
Occidental College is located in Los Angeles, California near the town of Eagle Rock, between the towns of Glendale and Pasadena.  The college is located close to the intersection of the 210 and 134 freeways.  All of the conference events, except lunch, will take place in Fowler Hall on the Occidental College campus.  Free parking for the event is available in the Admissions office parking lot.

Freeway Directions

There are many different ways to approach Occidental by car. What follows is a list of the main roads into the college.

From West Los Angeles

  • Take the San Diego Freeway (I-405) north to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) east.
  • Follow the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) east to downtown Los Angeles to the Harbor Freeway (I-110) north, toward Pasadena.
  • Continue on the Harbor Freeway (I-110) north to the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and go north toward Bakersfield.
  • Continue on the Golden State Freeway (I-5) north to the Glendale Freeway (I-2) going toward Glendale.
  • From the Glendale Freeway (I-2) north, take the Verdugo Road exit.
  • Turn left at the end of the off-ramp onto Eagle Rock Boulevard.
  • Continue on Eagle Rock Boulevard and pass five stoplights to Westdale Avenue.
  • Turn right at Westdale Avenue and follow it until it ends at Campus Road.
  • At Campus Road, turn left and follow the signs to Visitor Parking

From Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley

  • Take the Foothill Freeway (I-210) west to its merger with the Ventura Freeway (I-134).
  • Follow the Ventura Freeway (I-134) west to the Colorado/Figueroa Boulevard exit.
  • Follow the Colorado Boulevard part of the exit and stay on Colorado to Eagle Rock Boulevard (about one mile).
  • Turn left on Eagle Rock Boulevard and continue past four traffic lights to Westdale Avenue.
  • Turn left on Westdale and follow it until it ends at Campus Road.
  • Turn left at Campus Road and follow the signs to Visitor Parking
  • (Note: From the Inland Empire and other points east, you can take I-10 to I-210 and then follow the directions above.)

From the San Fernando Valley

  • Take the Ventura Freeway East (I-134) through Glendale to the Harvey Drive Exit.
  • Turn right at the end of the off-ramp and then turn left at the first light onto Broadway.
  • Follow Broadway east for three blocks as it travels under the freeway and then merges into Colorado Boulevard.
  • Continue on Colorado Boulevard to Eagle Rock Boulevard.
  • Turn right onto Eagle Rock Boulevard and continue four traffic lights to Westdale Avenue.
  • Turn left at Westdale Avenue and follow it until it ends at Campus Road.
  • At Campus Road, turn left and follow the signs to Visitor Parking.

From Downtown Los Angeles

  • Take the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and go north toward Bakersfield.
  • Continue on the Golden State Freeway (I-5) north to the Glendale Freeway (I-2) going toward Glendale.
  • From the Glendale Freeway (I-2) north, take the Verdugo Road exit.
  • Turn left at the end of the off-ramp onto Eagle Rock Boulevard.
  • Continue on Eagle Rock Boulevard and pass five stoplights to Westdale Avenue.
  • Turn right at Westdale Avenue and follow it until it ends at Campus Road.
  • Turn left at Campus Road and follow the signs to Visitor Parking

From Northern California

  • Take U.S. I-101 south or the Golden State Freeway (I-5) south to the Ventura Freeway (I-134) east.
  • Take the Ventura Freeway East (I-134) through Glendale to the Harvey Drive Exit.
