Conference Organizers

Dr. Naiomi Cameron, Occidental College

As a faculty member at Occidental and former visiting faculty member at Harvey Mudd College, Dr. Cameron has supervised two undergraduate students in summer research experiences.  She has also supported several students in preparing for research experiences and presentations within her department.  As chapter advisor of Pi Mu Epsilon at Occidental, she organized a speaker series featuring accessible, entertaining mathematical talks aimed at an undergraduate audience.  She has also supported and encouraged students to attend and present at the MAA Section Meeting and at the Pi Mu Epsilon student session at Mathfest.

Dr. Alissa Crans, Loyola Marymount University

Having been both an undergraduate and graduate student in Southern California, Dr. Crans has attended the MAA section meetings for the past ten years.  She participated in the student poster session multiple times and encouraged undergraduates to participate in the session both as a graduate student and this year as a faculty member.  In her first year as a faculty member, she has assisted two math majors in preparing talks that they then presented at the Joint Meetings and the Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics.  This year, she took one student to the Joint Meetings, one to the Nebraska Conference, and four students to the spring MAA section meeting.  In addition, Dr. Crans serves as one of the faculty advisors of her department’s Math Club/Pi Mu Epsilon Chapter.

Dr. Kendra Killpatrick, Pepperdine University

Dr. Killpatrick recently completed her third year of teaching at Pepperdine University where she serves as the faculty advisor for the student MAA chapter.  In addition, she formed a chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national math honor society, in 2004 and serves as the chapter advisor.  Dr. Killpatrick has supervised 6 undergraduate students in undergraduate research projects and has taken students to Mathfest, the fall and spring MAA section meetings and the Joint Meetings for the past three years.  She has had students give presentations in both student talk sessions and student poster sessions at these conferences.
